Is it safe to order from this site?
Yes it is. We contract  Internet Secure – a provider of secure e-commerce – to provide a safe environment for credit card transactions. From their secure server, your credit information is sent (in an encoded form) directly to the bank. It is not stored on the Internet Secure site, and Coach House Books never needs to see it. This system is safer than using your card in a store where they swipe your card and all the information is usually sent over a phone line without any sort of encryption.
Newer versions of internet browsers (programmes like Netscape and Internet Explorer) are safer than old ones. You should only enter your credit card information if you see a small golden key  or a locked padlock on a yellow background in the bottom left corner of your browser. And never use your card on a suspect site, just as you wouldn’t use it in a suspect store.

How can I pay?
We accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover credit cards, or old-fashion cheques and money orders. We’ll even deal in cash if you drop in (please do not send cash by mail!).
All orders are processed in Canadian dollars. Use your favourite currency converter, or try the one at the Bank of Canada.
Please note: all credit card orders, whether place online through our secure server, or offline by phone, fax or mail, will be processed online through our secure server.

How much is shipping?
Shipping within Canada is free. That’s right, not a penny. And so is surface shipping to the US. All items are shipped by post.
For other destinations or US expedited shipping, there is a single charge for every 3 to 5 books, depending on destination and shipping speed. For example, for US expedited, the charge is $5 for every 5 or fewer books. For International air, the charge is $10 for every 3 or fewer books.
Shipping is calculated automatically when you place your order online. The chart below gives some examples:

Does CHBooks sell address information?
Absolutely not. We respect your privacy. We do not sell any information about our customers or visitors to the website.
If you order from us, we may send you announcements and invitations. You can opt out of this when you place your order, or at any time – being removed is only one click away.
Under no circumstances do we provide our mailing list (postal or virtual) to any other organization. Nor do we collect email addresses of those that use our Post2Card service. There’s enough SPAM in the world already without us adding more to it.
